Samuel Leeds Allen founded his business in the 1880’s to manufacture farm equipment. His most successful product was also the namesake of the company - the Planet, Jr. - a rototiller, whose rings reminded Allen of Saturn. Allen’s real obession, though, was with “coasting”, or as we know it today, sledding. His patented design of the Flexible Flyer sled would carry his inventor’s flame well into the 20th century. This ca. 1908 two-seater sled is in beautiful shape and retains its original foot holds.
