Cody Schuster and Dustin Crooks of Imagestone 1: Deck and Sauna Project Using Reclaimed Cast Iron Tubs

Earlier this summer I met Cody Schuster and Dustin Crooks, two guys looking for two tubs for a construction project they were doing for two people.  It all sounds fairly normal for a day’s work at Aurora Mills Architectural Salvage, maybe even fun – like a scavenger hunt since we have many, many tubs. The catch (because there always is one) the tubs needed to be identical twins, in great condition, didn’t need feet and needed to fit a budget.  We worked really hard to find Cody and Dustin the tubs they needed for their clients and their project looks great! Thanks so much you two for coming by our store and especially for sharing your pictures with all of us.  I truly had a lot of fun working with you!  Louise

Here is what Cody said in his email and the pictures he sent.

Hello my name is Cody, I was in there around May and picked up two claw foot tubs that needed to be the same.  I was the guy that was going to set them into a deck.  You had mentioned that you would like some pictures of the deck when we got done with it.  I forgot to send them until now, I want to thank you for all of your help, this deck truly turned into a dream for the homeowner and you were a big part of that happening.  In the pictures you will see a sauna and then a deck that wraps around the front with the tubs to the side, we actually put a convertible roof on this deck.  The framing all stays where it is and we put a fiberglass top on it that is framed with 1 by 1, that is held on with door hinges, so you just have to pull the pins and take it off.  We also added a compass that points true North and inlaid it into the deck between the tubs at the end.  There are also two shower heads in the framing right above each tub, so you can rinse off after taking a sauna.  I really need you to understand how much you helped with this project and how much I appreciate the patience that you had with me when we were looking for the right tubs.  After all this deck was designed and built around the tubs that we got from you.  I recommend your store to anyone that I can and I hope that leads to customers that are as happy as I am.  Please feel free to show any pictures that you want to anyone who wants to see them, if nothing else it might give them a good idea.

Thank you so much,

Cody

WHAT A VIEW! Imagine soaking while looking out at the countryside. Imagine what this will look like in the spring and summer when plants are growing over the arbor.
