    New Building: UPDATE and FAQ’s

Well, the old adage goes that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. So that’s what we’ve been doing – going HARD on our new building, here at what we should probably call the Aurora Mills Complex. We can’t tell you how exciting it is to see the progress of the new building, but not everyone is familiar with us or what is going on, so we figured a formal FAQ was in order that way we can answer some of the greatest hits on just what the devil is happening here!

Question 1: Who’s Building is That??!!

Answer: It’s the new, yet to be named, annex for Aurora Mills.

Question 2: Cool! What’s going to be inside of there?

Answer: More old stuff of course! It will be a shoppable showroom filled with all the cool old stuff we always have and decorated with some of the coolest stuff we’ve collected over our years of traveling.

    ~

Question 3: Oh man – does that mean you’re going to get rid of the old building?!?!?!

Answer: Absolutely not! The original Mill building is an historic landmark and we will continue to operate our retail shop in that building as well as the new building. All good things!

Question 3: Well that’s great. It sure is a neat building, who designed it?

Answer: Well, thank you so much for that compliment! The building is modeled after the design aesthetic of historic 19th-century train sheds. Aurora Mills’ fearless owner worked with an architect to realize his vision.

Question 3: Oh, well that’s great. So when do you think it will be done?

Answer: Hmmm. Well. Let’s just say we’ve had our fair share of impediments with the whole 2020 thing, BUT, we are hopeful that in Summer 2021 we will be open and ready to show it off. Stay tuned for updates on all the dates – including a celebratory unveiling.

So that’s it! As you can see, the building has windows, siding, and is really starting to come together – there is light at the end of the tunnel (we had to use a railroad euphemism here somewhere).

We are also planning a little preview tour soon, so stay tuned to our social media for the particulars on how you can get a sneak peek!
