We contemplated just writing “LOL” on the description for this one, but we figured you would want to know a little about this fun loving guy. Based on his beautiful craftsmanship, this jocund fellow was most likely a decorative prop from one of the major circus organizations (Barnum & Bailey, Ringling, etc.) and is definitely one of a kind. The bust, which has a hollow back, has been deftly hand painted and is an example of the “White Face” clown style. Clown makeup designs have been trademarked since the 1940’s through the Clown Egg Register(not making this up) – a place where a clown can paint an egg with a likeness of their makeup on it to be preserved in perpetuity, so this fellow might be in there given the specificity of his visage. The piece is exceptionally clean and in excellent condition – most likely coming from a storage warehouse. So, if you don’t like sleeping at night, snap this guy up and hang him over your bed. Or hang him in a window so your neighbors, or anyone else for that matter, will never look into your house again.
