The Denoyer Geppert Company began manufacturing maps and globes in Chicago in 1916. Their high quality globes were used by the military and NASA; in fact the company still operates today, under a new aegis, making scientific and anatomical classroom models. This early 20th century globe was used as a military aviation training tool – hence the lack of identifying information on the land masses. Years of use have rendered the exterior to a perfect state of wear, replete with beautifully muted colors. The heavy cast iron base retains its original hallmark tag.
