Joseph Fry patented a chocolate refining process in the early 18th century, his ancestors would continue to operate the family chocolate business as J.S. Fry & Sons, eventually producing the first solid chocolate bar for the mass market. The company merged with Cadbury in 1919, however, the Fry name continued to be used until the 1980’s. This porcelain enamel sign is early 20th century and has great color and condition in its enamel.
