In 1856, a group of prominent local businessmen led by Ebenezer Hill formed the Norwalk Lock Company, or Norwalk Manufacturing Co., in Norwalk, Connecticut. Originally a manufacturer of locks, keys, and door hardware, the Norwalk Lock Company began to manufacture steam pumps and engines in 1868. This particular pair of brass door knobs demonstrates the Norwalk Lock Co.åäÌÝå»s dedication to superior craftsmanship of ornate door hardware. If you look closely, you can see the three-fold symmetry that cleverly displays three butterflies. Ca. 1885.
