While most widely known for a revolutionary keyless combination lock, Alfred E. Peters of the Peters’ Combination Lock Company also designed and manufactured beautiful ornate door hardware. Eventually moving his manufacturing facilities from Canada into the United States, Peters’ company eventually went bankrupt even after he revolutionized the security industry before his 21st birthday. This pair of brass door knobs may have originally been installed with a Peters keyless combination lock and appears in several publications as a set. Ca. 1875. Sold as a pair.
