The Plantation Desk is an historical variation on the secretary style drop front desk. These large hutch style desks enjoyed great popularity in the 19th century and were frequently produced in Shaker workshops. This circac 1880 desk has a beautiful silhouette and excellent craftsmanship, but also exhibits some applied ornamentation reminiscent of a bead and reel on the upper and lower cabinet sides. Glass panes in the upper cabinet add a display space, with the convenient fold out desk allowing for conceled storage with multiple cubbies.
