The midwestern modern “Prairie School” style was made most famous by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The style embraced abstract geometric forms as ornamental detail themes to complement an architectural style that saw open floor plans with lowered ceilings and indirect lighting – a radical change when juxtaposed to the grand Victorians of the later 19th century.
