A lovely example of American Folk Art, this small chair is covered with pyrographic and incised chrysanthemums rendered in excellent detail. A keyhole has been cut into the scalloped back in a shape reminiscent of a Gothic trefoil and the legs are scalloped edged panels, allowing for additional surface decoration. The artist’s initials LDM” are incised/burned on the underside of the chair’s seat.
